Blurb :

Fairy godmothers are not all alike, as Allie Adams is about to find out. When the man of her dreams walks into her life, she’ll need more than the right pair of shoes to win his heart. With the help of a most unusual fairy godmother, Allie just might get everything she wants. Cherrie Mack puts a new twist on an old favorite in Book 1 of the Little Black Box series, Inconceivable.

My Musings :

This is the first book I have read by the author and I can easily see myself reading her other works too.

The book is a unique retelling of the classical fairy tale, Cinderella with a couple of twists and surprises. I loved the concept and the way the author has treated the tale while the characters didn't make me go gaga over them.

Let me start with the characters. Firstly there is Allie, the female protagonist. I hated and loved her during the story reading. On one hand, she comes across as spoiled, selfish and a snob while on the other hand, she is a person who's been hurting inside and needs happiness in her life. Then there's Angelo/Victor, the male protagonist. I loved him with his mysterious background and his attitude towards life. The character which totally surprised me was Adrienne. She wasn't as bad as I figured.

As I said earlier, the story was as familiar as it was different. I loved the way it was presented. One thing I didn't like was the too much attention on Allie's moping around. That was a negative for me. Other than that, all other points were positive. The story flowed easily and I could easily imagine the goings on except in certain places. The ending meshed well with the fairy tale vibe and it hints at a story for Adrienne which I am curious to read about.

So overall, I can say that romance lovers who have a soft spot for fairy tale retellings will like this one.

My one line review : A fun and unique Cinderella retelling with few twists and surprises.

My rating : 4/5

My reread factor : 3/5

Meet the Author :

Cherrie Mack is a multi-published romance author who grew up in Flushing Queens NY, the youngest child of six. The city’s diversity gave her a great appreciation for many different cultures and lifestyles. After love finally claimed the girl from the city and dragged her to the suburban madness of Long Island, she settled into a quiet life with her new husband. Two children and one mini-van later, the family found themselves moving towards the sunny skies of Florida where they currently reside. When she isn’t writing, she is busy chasing her children around, laughing with her husband, struggling to learn meditation and hanging out with her best friend–a mutt named Bailey.

Over the last year, Cherrie has continued to flourish, writing contemporary erotic romance, romantic comedy, urban fantasy and her latest, paranormal romance. Her ability to cross genre’s fuels her imagination and gives her the desire to continue to push her boundaries and branch out as a writer. Although she hasn’t settled into any given sub-genre, she is confident her ability will lead her down the right path.

A member of Romance Writers of America, Cherrie is slowly spreading her wings as a romance author. Look for her books at all digital bookstores such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Bookstrand, ITunes, Nook, Kobo and many more.
