Blurb :

As Friend of the Pack, Aria Naveed should be untouchable, protected by the most influential group in the Pacific Northwest. But someone is unleashing rogue vampires to hunt her down, and she is determined to find out why. When Aria gains command of Sanborn Place and takes on a case involving a mysterious paranormal, her life is put in more peril than ever as she finds herself bound to an influential power player. She doesn’t want to be anyone’s puppet, but must tread carefully as she traverses the streets of Spokane, WA, or risk being overwhelmed by the forces moving against her. As the only known pyrokinetic in the area, Aria is in high demand, but not for her services. It seems that to those in power, she’s worth more dead than alive, and if a mysterious enemy has their way, she won’t live long enough to find out why.

My Musings :

A good continuation to the first book.

It started off where it left in the first book and so it was easy to follow. The familiarity of the setting and the characters came through in this book and it was like visiting old friends.

Aria's fight and her struggle to stay even when dealing with the hurt and danger she was dished out in this book had me loving her more. I can see her continuing to grow and go from strength to strength in the upcoming adventures. The surprising character in this book was Declan according to me. I absolutely didn't see that coming. The point of view from Declan's side was a nice touch and kept me more invested in the romantic aspect of the series. James was his usual self assured self who showed his vulnerability in the scenes Aria courted danger. I found the characters surprising me with their actions, straying away from their familiar acting points.

So far, the books in this series seem to be short and fast paced giving me not even a second to get bored. The author made me run the gamut of emotions in Aria's place with her writing. I look forward to reading more in this series. As a lover of urban fantasy, I can see adding this to my series' TBR.

My one line review : A good continuation adding to the mystery of the characters with plenty of action.

My rating : 4/5

My reread factor : 4/5
