My Musings :

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Where to start with this review? Well, the first thing which caught my attention was the book's theme - best friends to lovers. If you guys know me, then you know that it's one of my favourite themes! So I was very eager to read this book. So did it live up to my expectation?

In a way, it did. I really liked the past history between Alec and Val. It did add complexity to the characters and the necessary background to know them better. But inspite of being best friends, I didn't get the right vibe from them in the beginning. It seemed superficial that they would fall for other each so suddenly. It was one of the points which irked me.

Another point was the language used at times. But this is a very minor one. I did expect very adult language though so I was able to overlook the parts where it was unnecessary.

The chemistry was very good between them. The heat factor was way off the charts. It was a very easy read with the interactions between Alec and Val. Though I would continue to read the series, this was one book which was sufficient only and it didn't have the extra element to make it a special read.

“Ice and vending?” he asked, indicating the sign on the wall.

“Are you serious?”

He pressed his lips to her ear. “I know you’ve been fantasizing about me fucking you since last night. Do you really want to wait any longer?”

It came out bolder than he’d intended. Maybe he’d gone too far.

“I can’t wait any longer,” she admitted, her eyes sheepish.

Had he ever heard sweeter words? He dragged her down the hall in the direction of the arrow on the vending sign, anticipation making him lightheaded.

They arrived at a fluorescent-lighted alcove. An ice machine and a Coke machine stood rumbling on either side of them.

It wasn’t ideal. But there was a door they could close.

They had enough room if they stood. “What do you think?”

She considered their surroundings. He should have just slammed the door and started up with her again. He was trying to be polite, and his question was going to make her

bail.

“I’m more of a Pepsi girl”—she smiled slyly—“but what the hell?”
