Temptations of a Wallflower
The Wicked Quills of London #3
By: Eva Leigh
Releasing April 26, 2015
Eva Leigh’s deliciously sexy Wicked Quills of London series continues as a Lady’s secret career writing erotic fiction is jeopardized by real-life romance . . .
In society circles she’s known as the Watching Wallflower—shy, quiet, and certainly never scandalous. Yet beneath Lady Sarah Frampton’s demure façade hides the mind of The Lady of Dubious Quality, author of the most titillating erotic fiction the ton has ever seen. Sarah knows discovery would lead to her ruin, but marriage—to a vicar, no less—could help protect her from slander. An especially tempting option when the clergyman in question is the handsome, intriguing Jeremy Cleland.
Tasked with unmasking London’s most scandalous author by his powerful family, Jeremy has no idea that his beautiful, innocent bride is the very woman he seeks to destroy. His mission must remain a secret, even from the new wife who stirs his deepest longings. Yet when the truth comes to light, Sarah and Jeremy’s newfound love will be tested. Will Sarah’s secret identity tear them apart or will the temptations of his wallflower wife prove too wicked to resist?

My Musings :
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
The blurb was the first thing which caught my attention with the intriguing pairing of a vicar and an erotic author. Secondly the book cover had me eager to start reading the book. The unlikely pairing and their romance made for a great weekend read. I so loved the book that I bought a copy straight away and got the first book too.
Sarah was a plucky and a romantic heroine. She went against all norms of the society with her writing and yet went on without guilt and with courage to follow self. I liked her vulnerability when she was amongst the Ton and her vibrant personality when she was with her friends. Jeremy came as a surprise package. He was so different from a normal vicar that he enchanted me with his passion and open mindedness from the start. The only thing which I didn't like was his mercenary like nature in relation with his father. Other than that, they made the perfect pair with the way their personalities mesh together.
The romance aspect of the plot was really done well. The author had emphasised the passion between the protagonists and also dwelt on the subject of talking about sex being taboo during their period. The author added the side subject of sex to the plot to add more convolutions to the story. It did add some strain between the hero and the heroine near the end.
The author made the characters realistic with their stress and their struggles. The interaction between the protagonists was seamlessly written with interest, joy and sadness in turns. This delightful read was a reminder why Regency romance is one of my favourite genres.
My rating : 4.5 /5
