Blog Tour / Book Musings - Playing the Witch's Game by Zoe Forward

Blurb :

Pleiades witch Jennifer Marcos is certain that the host of Extreme Survivor is her soulmate. All she has to do is find a fake boyfriend, get on the show, and voila! She'll have her destiny. Unfortunately, she has to rely on ex-Russian spy Nikolai Jovec's six-foot-something of gorgeous, infuriating hotness. To make matters worse, the electric attraction between Jen and Nikolai is hotter than ever. But the only way Nikolai can protect Jen is by hiding the identity of her true Destined...him.

My Musings :

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

The first thing which caught my attention was the story plot. Using one guy to try to snare your partner? Who doesn't love that angle. I was so looking forward to this book. I have not seen this series till I came across the blog tour. So it's basically a new author and series to me.

The start of the tale had me intrigued with Jennifer and Nikolai. It took a while to get to know them and their history. I felt Jennifer was kind of a snob but I loved Nikolai. He was so hot and cute! I loved the steamy chemistry between them and the way they interacted with each other. The way they kind of circled around in every scene had the sexual tension simmering.

The world the author had created was creative and had plenty of attention to detail. I loved this version of paranormal romance with mythology undertones and add a dash of survival game show theme and it was an instant charmer for me. The only thing I regretted was that I hadn't read the previous books so all the characters were new to me.

The ending was kind of cliff hanger-y and well it acted as a way to keep me interested in the next book as well as irk me since the read didn't feel complete! But I definitely would read the entire series, both previous and forthcoming books.

My rating : 4/5
