In Tess Diamond’s third romantic thriller, an FBI agent teams up with the one woman who can offer the salvation he needs as they search for a serial killer.
As the head of an elite FBI unit, Special Agent Paul Harrison seems to have everything figured out, but beneath the surface, an internal war is raging. When he returns to his rural hometown for the first time in a few years, he’s faced with the memories that led to his losing the love of his life.
Fifteen years ago, Abigail Winthrop’s best friend, and Paul’s girlfriend, was murdered by the infamous serial killer, Doctor X. Now an investigative journalist, she’s determined to find the truth. But when Abigail discovers evidence that clears Doctor X, she realizes the real killer is still out there and is striking again when local young girls begin disappearing.
Turning to Paul for help, Abigail joins forces with him. As an undeniable attraction develops between them, they must heal deep wounds from their past—and find a relentless psychopath who could extinguish their hopes for a future together.

My Musings:
As soon as I read the blurb I was hooked - onto the story and the cover. Yes, the cover is another part which had my attention. I love suspense book covers. Seriously they have me going strong for a good read.
The prologue had me widening my eyes in dread and surprise and that sense was with me till the end. The story started off strong and then it veered off to bring in the characters. I say characters because for me, everyone was equally important.
Abby and Paul were the main root for the story with Paul's steadfastness and Abby's resolute insistence that the killer was still free. All others like Robin and Paul's family were the ones who made the story go forward inspite of their not so centre spaces.
The author made use of words so expertly to weave a tale with great imagery and a very good plot. The words flowed so easily that I was immersed in the book from the start and it was a very easy read because of it. I was very much surprised when I finished the book in a very short time - literally few hours.
The story was geared up to be a suspense read with a bit of romance. Thank god for that, I loved the fact that the romance was lighter since I really didn't want it to overshadow the thriller part. And the thing I didn't like was that I wasn't able to guess at all. I so didn't expect the identity of the killer so I was miffed at the end.
What I got away from the book was that I would love to read more of the author's books. Yes,she has made the top ten list for me. Another great author to follow!
I received a copy voluntarily for reviewing purposes. Thank you for the opportunity.
My one line review : A perfectly plotted suspense with a bit of romance on the side.
My rating : 5/5
My reread factor : 4/5
