Aurora Firedrake returns in the spellbinding sequel to The Last of the Firedrakes.
The seven kingdoms of Avalonia are crumbling and evil is spreading across the land like a plague. Queen Morgana is close to finding a way to open The Book of Abraxas and it’s only a matter of time until she uses the power trapped inside its pages to enslave the entire world.
With Avalonia growing more dangerous by the day, Aurora must travel through war-torn lands and deep into the heart of the fae kingdom of Elfi. Her goal is to find a legendary weapon infused with the last of the realm’s ancient magic—the only weapon in the world powerful enough to stop the queen.
Aurora might have survived her first battle against Morgana, but the true fight to save her kingdom and restore her throne has only just begun…

My Musings :

I received a free copy for reviewing purposes. This doesn't impact my review in any way.

It's rare that I sign up for a second book in a series before I read the first. This is one such. So I had the  chance to read the 2 books one after the other and I think that added to my enjoyment more. Don't get me wrong but sometimes waiting for the sequel makes me forget what I enjoyed in the previous book. So for me, it was a treat for that one reason and furthermore the story was very good which added to my fun times!

No, I am not talking about the first book at all because the second book in this case gets my full attention. The reason is that usually the second book doesn't shadow the first. I believe this is one story where it gets better with the sequel.

The characters are well defined and I loved the romantic aspect. It kept my emotions a bit tangled up. The main thing which I liked is the world building. A book depends on its plot and world and writing to make a go with the readers. The world around the characters is vibrant with magical forces and people. I believe I am spoiled for the next book.

If a book can make you sit and read without looking at the time, it's a sure hit and the only thing had me frowning was the ending. Dear author, it's not cool to keep your reader in angst. So not cool. I hate that kind of ending! Now waiting for the next book with bated breath. I hope that the next book lives up to the writing and also that I don't lose my enthusiasm!

My one line review : A vibrant magical world with a strong heroine

My rating: 4.5

My reread factor : 4/5
