Christmas, Colorado #7
Debbie Mason
Releasing June 28th, 2016
Forever Romance
It's beginning to look a lot like love . . .
As her thirtieth birthday approaches, Deputy Jill Flaherty decides it's time to live a little. When she walks into Sawyer Anderson's bar in her sexiest dress, she's not thinking that he's her brother's best friend or about the many women he dated during his years as a pro hockey player. All she's thinking is that it's finally time to confess to her longtime crush how she truly feels.
Sawyer is done being a player on and off the ice. Yet no one in the small town of Christmas seems to believe he's ready to settle down, not Jill, and certainly not Jack, who is determined to keep Sawyer from breaking his little sister's heart. But as Sawyer and Jill's relationship heats up, can he prove that he's her happy ever after?

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
There are 2 themes which always gets my attention - a small town romance and a best friend's sibling love. And this book has both of them in spades. When I started reading, I didn't know that it was 7th in the series. I,of course, didn't mind that since it can be read a standalone. I seem to be discovering new authors in each read nowadays. I am sure I will be devouring her other books too in the future.
The author has done a great job of entertaining me with the heart and emotions in the story. The tale is full of surprises and it got me awaiting the next page with enthusiasm. It is a good combination of a wonderful story and very realistic characters.
Jill comes across as a tomboy but she longs for her own family and so she takes things into her own hands and tries to redo herself and try to ask Sawyer out for a date. Her feelings of loneliness, hurt and happiness literally came out of the pages in tangible waves. I could identify with her so easily that it was a scary a bit.
Sawyer is a Casanova and though he wants to give up his ways, no one believes him. He is a great friend, a good uncle and an awesome lover. He is the one who blinds himself to his own attraction to Jill. The way he comes out of his stupor and realises his situation had me sympathising with him.
The book was full of scenes which run the gamut of emotions and feelings. Jill's attempts was funny but at the same time a tiny bit painful. Sawyer's realisation was bittersweet. The interferance of the busybodies of the town was fun and funny and shows their love for the protagonists. Though I hadn't met them previously, I enjoyed each character and they weren't forgettable.
The romance was pretty sweet and the chemistry was pretty hot. I loved the way the author has dealt with the romance aspect - sweet, sexy and hot. The author's writing style is simple and straight and her scenes are very fluid seamlessly flowing into each other. I look forward to reading her other books and enjoying them as much as this one.
All in all, it was a satisfactory sweet romance to enjoy during the weekend.
My rating : 4.5/5
