My Musings : 

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I am on a trend of reading mythology based books recently and this one is no exception. Another good book with a basis of Egyptian mythology and I can say without doubt I liked this book too.

Firstly the premise of the mystery behind the disappearance of a girl who disappeared 50 years ago was intriguing and add the vein of mythology to it and you have a winner on your hands. It was a nice spot of reading a mythological mystery which appeals to the younger generation especially.

Terry was a very strong heroine. The death of her mother and her disability might hinder at times but mostly she came across as a person who does everything in her power to get to her goal. There were scenes where I saw her as a cowardly person. But it was counteracted by her reluctant closeness with Fraser and Zach and Maude. The friendship between Terry and Maude was done well and I felt that they would grow more, separately and together, in the coming books. The insta love between Zach and Terry felt overdone. I would have liked to have seen more "proper" love rather than the first look attraction as portrayed in the book.

The negative characters were confusing most of the times. The author convoluted the narration so much that I wasn't able to get a proper read on the antagonists. I was literally hopping from one person to another in trying to guess the identity of the real villain. Apparently, they were a coalition and the ending which revealed it was kind of surprising for me. Another part which had me guessing was the disappearance of the "mystery" girl and the asp. I wouldn't have guessed that at all. The author knows how to plot a good mystery in my opinion. And for this alone I look forward to reading the future books in this series.

The author has opened the series on a  good note and I am looking forward to the sequel. For all those Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys lovers out there, including the adults, would love this one.
