More demons, epic battles, and fights to the death: introducing the unmissable next installment in the Summoner Trilogy...
On trial for a crime he did not commit, Fletcher must face the Inquisition who will decide his future - the process is gruelling, lead by those who will do anything to see him suffer and haunted by ghosts from the past with clues to Fletcher's tragic origins.
But Fletcher has little time to dwell on these new revelations when the king announces a deadly challenge to the graduating students at Vocans. One that involves entering Orc territory to complete a risky mission. With loyal demons by their sides, commoners and nobles, dwarves and elves must overcome barriers of class and race and work together to triumph. The reward: a fortune in gold, the safety of an empire and PEACE.
With the entire empire watching, Fletcher has much to prove, but there are those out to get him and it soon becomes clear that there's a traitor in their midst, trying to thwart the mission and create unrest within the Empire.
With everything stacked against him, Fletcher must use everything in his power to fight his way to victory.

My Musings :
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
When I first saw this title up for a blog tour, I was easily attracted by the cover but I was hesitant to it up because, first, it was the second book and second, the blurb wasn't as attention grabbing as the cover. But when I came across it again randomly, I joined up planning to buy the first book. Boy, am I ever thankful that I changed my mind. Seriously, the 2 books were so worth it!!!!! I actually binge read them in a couple of days.
I am going to go about reviewing it in reverse style doing The Inquisition now and The Novice later next week. Of course, the author has to end the first book in a cliffhanger! The beginning had quite a time leap. I wasn't expecting that. In one way I would not have preferred it. But the time lapse seemed to have bettered the characters. They were better portrayed or had personality growths to increase my interest in them. The old characters were like wine while the new ones were like spice adding various dynamics to the different groups. It was a real fun read following each character. Another thing I liked was that the characters were truly tested in this book. And not only in their magical abilities but their practical sides too.
The quest undertaken in this book covered most of the story and the author had done major work in expanding our knowledge about the minor places and races of the first book. The world was painstakingly and beautifully detailed and it was done in an adventurous way. I was swept up in the race against time from the beginning and it was a very very short read on my part. I literally inhaled the book. Now I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel. Apprarently, we have to wait for it. These are the times I wish I would only read finished series like my cousin. She is sensible!
The only part which I hated was the ending. Seriously?? Dangling us at one of the worst cliffhangers till the next year?? Oh my! But the author does know how to keep the readers engaged and waiting for the next book. This is a 5 star read for me and I don't even know how the author is going to beat that!
My rating : 5/5

Taran was born in London in 1990 and found a passion for reading at a very early age. His love for stories developed into a desire to create his own during early adolescence, beginning his first book at 9 years old.
