My Musings :
This is another series I have added to my waitlist. It turned out to be so much better than what I expected. I purely selected it from the blurb. I saw the book cover just before writing the review and I have to say that it fits the book since the picture is obviously of the heroine, Ally.
The story revolves around Ally and the visions she gets at unfortunate times. The story has all the elements to make it interesting like romance, paranormal stuff and a bit of mystery. Ally's visions form the base for solving the mystery which kept me guessing till the end. But that is just a sub plot. The main plot is the romance between Ally and Jack, the hero. The entwining of the two themes was perfectly done and my attention didn't waver from the book at all.
The story takes place at a steady pace and the events taking place kept me engrossed. The romance wasn't overly done while the characters were written well. Usually the teen characters would be a bit immature but Ally and Jack trumped them with their maturity and love for each other. Ally is a sweet and fiesty person while Jack isn't the usual teen offender. They both suit each other well and their interactions were crafted well. The dialogues and narration made it easy to picture the book well in my mind.
I felt that the violence in the book was a bit overdone for a YA book. But that might be only my view. But it didn't detract from the story and it added a gritty attitude to the plot. Overall, I wasn't disappointed since the author is new to me. I will definitely read the next book and I also recommend it to fellow paranormal romance lovers.
My one line review : If Romeo and Juliet weren't star crossed lovers and their life mirrors this book, then this would be their story.
My rating : 5/5
My reread factor : 4/5

Meet Ally Moran, a 17 year-old who also happens to be psychic. Oh, and she’s getting more psychic with every passing day, so much so that she’s been sent to Ireland to check in with the Seer Council to see what’s up with her freaky new powers. Jack Ruiz is her 19 year-old boyfriend, a former troublemaker who’s back on track and trying desperately to graduate. His plans did not include falling in love with a psychic trouble-magnet. Last month they worked together to save a friend in deep trouble and ended up solving a school-wide mystery. But now there’s a new guy at school, Remy Giles, and he seems just a little bit too interested in Ally for Jack’s liking. And why does Ally keep dreaming about a kidnapping? Last month seems like a cakewalk compared to this semester… Ally's trying to solve a mystery, but Jack is just trying to keep her alive.
I was so looking forward to this book and getting to know Ally and Jack better. I was kind of disappointed but this one has more of teen drama. At the same time I liked the book enough to continue reading the series.
The blurb captivated me again with its promise of a mystery. Yes, there's another one associated with Ally. She seems to be the mystery magnet in the series. But then, she is a Seer and, well, a strong one at that so I am not surprised at the events taking place in the book. Jack has more of a problem dealing with the danger Ally attracts in this book. It's all in a day's book for him!
Let me take a look at the book cover again. I don't know about others but I love that one!! The characters, Ally and Jack as usual are their mature selves. But their relationship is rocky in this part. All other characters just form the background among whom Remy stands out for me, especially for his cocky attitude.
The narration was good. Addition of Jack POV added more spice to the story while Ally's POV get me immersed, same as the first book. I loved the lines included at the start of each chapter. They were so apt for the scenes following them. I am now hooked onto the slow development of Ally's powers and look forward to see where it leads. The plot was a bit more realistic with teen angst in spite of my disappointment and it added to the overall drama.
In short, I liked the book very much on all counts and I am waiting for the next book, Seer which is to be released on July 14, 2015. So we don't have to wait for long to continue reading the series!
Light mystery lovers who like paranormal, do check out this series.
My one line review : A love story with the spice of mystery and the element of paranormal makes for a good weekend read.
